He was a great story teller, but he was even better as a listener and he was a great mentor. I was always taken back by his genuine regard for his mentor, Jim Beam. I don't think I visited him that he did not speak of Jim Beam and give credit for all his good fortune. Booker was a good man.You would have really enjoyed time with him as he embodied the qualities you speak of.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23077465.post-40614149476368606302008-03-24T15:23:00.000-07:002008-03-24T15:23:00.000-07:00Rocky,Great job with passion. I would have loved to sit around with Booker and sipped. <BR/>A few observations: First, there is that quality you touched on that is charisma. Charisma can be a prescence like a great politician on the stump but it also is that ability to make you feel you are the only person in the world, and what you have to say is the only thing that matters. I work with a gentleman who is so welcoming and warm you just want to be around him because he makes you feel important. If you can capture that ability to listen at a different level it will add so much to your leadership. Lets face it a job is much easier to do when you have a passion for what you are doing. If you don't believe me watch most part time clerks at the mall, or the counter person at you favorite fast food stop.Scott Farmerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12364605834132134118noreply@blogger.com
